Woohoo! You’re excited to get your website pumping out the profit and repeat readers you know are looking for you! But you wanna know what to expect from me, right?

Here’s what happens from the second you fill out the “Hire” page to the time your site takes over the internet:

Step #1: You fill out the Hire page with as much information as you can provide (the more detailed you are, the better your site will look in a shorter amount of time!)

Step #2: You’ll receive an instant email from me acknowledging that I’ve received your information. (I will always let you know where you stand with me.)

Step #3: Within 48 business hours, you will hear from me personally. I’ll probably have questions about what you’re contacting me for (especially if I need more details) and will need to get a good idea of the price range you’re looking to stay within. Don’t be shy on this one. Timid salespeople have skinny kids. My kids aren’t skinny. I’m not timid. Neither should you be.

Step #4: After we’ve got a clear understanding on what you’re looking for, how much you’re paying, and how quickly you need the work done, I will send over 3 documents: a Contract (don’t be scared, this protects us both), a Scope of Work (so you have written proof of exactly what I’m doing for you), and a Payment Schedule (so we both know when monies change hands, how much, and how often).

Step #5: Women don’t like to talk about money, so let’s rip the bandaidoff quick and get it over with: I expect to be paid at least half upfront. I’ve had one too many clients who have decided at the end that they didn’t want to pay and I’m not going to give away my work for free. The Joker didn’t do it in The Dark Knight (“If you’re good at something, never do it for free”) and neither will I.

Step #6: After I receive your first payment, I begin working on your project. The important scheduling dates are all included in the Scope of Work, so you’ll know when to expect certain pieces (depending on the size of the project).

Step #7: Once I’ve turned over the last of your project to you on (or before) the date we agree upon, I expect final payment within 24 hours. No exceptions. Not even if you’re my mother (harsh, sure. But a girl’s gotta eat, ya know.)

Step #8: We will either get on the phone or via a series of emails over the next week discuss exactly how to operate your site, make changes, and whatever else you want to know how to do on your site. I’m a patient woman (I did mention that I homeschool my kids, right?) and I won’t quit until I’ve answered every question you have.

Step #9: I will remain available for rewrites, updates, changes, and tweaks for the next 30 days. That’s enough time to verify that what I’ve done is working (really well) and that there’s no broken links or missing information within your site (I’ll have known that ahead of time because I’ll have tested your site thoroughly before turning the final project over to you…but I DO occasionally miss something).

Step #10: That’s it in a nutshell. From start to finish and 30 days beyond. Now all you gotta do is use the Hire page to get started! Easy peasy!
